Kia Motors and its Chinese joint venture partner, Dongfeng Yueda Kia, have been the presentation of the Kia K2 B-segment sedans in the Shanghai Motor Show 2011. Based on the platform of the New River, high-end cars new small designed and manufactured specifically for the Chinese market and will go into production at the plant of Dongfeng Yueda Kia from this June Kia Kia K2 features signature "tiger-nose" grille and boasts a high-tech image with bold and innovative design fog lamp, high air intake and dynamic swept back headlamps. A side character line, side air vent and the tip of the trunk line to add to the sporty image of K2, while the rear view features a two-tone bumper and the combination of modern lamps.
K2, the driver focuses on a futuristic interior to convey a spacious and comfortable, and drivers will enjoy a 3-cylinder control of the instrument panel of the door panels covered in fabric, leather steering wheel, engine start-stop button and Smart Key. Measuring 4,370 mm (total length) 1700 mm (width) by 1,460 mm (overall height), the K2 is longer, wider and lower than the previous generation Rio and boasts the longest wheelbase (2570 mm) in its class. Expanded dimensions allow K2 to require best-in-class interior space and plenty of luggage capacity of 500 liters (VDA). The use of space is even further thanks to the rear seats split 60:40.
Kia K2 will be available to Chinese customers in six trim levels with either a petrol engine or 1.4-liter Gamma 1.6-liter mated to a manual or automatic transmission. A 5-door hatchback version of the K2 will start production in August this year.
