I still think it looks cool, and although the 2012 Scion iQ is a lot of good things happen, unfortunately, is not fun to drive is not one of them. Sure, you can easily accuse the CVT, which can suck the life out of the Ferrari. Once locked in the transmission and the 1.3-liter I4 driving the front wheels, the horror is just too much. Of course, 94 hp is only 2127 pounds to pull around, both power-weight of 22.5 pounds sitting in a dark per horsepower. Add the driver and passenger lean proportions, and this figure jumps to around £ 26 hp. Then, when you add the CVT as a burden, it just makes you want to travel by bus. A pair of 0-to-60 mph to start with an empty road, yielded 10.7 seconds, which is not sport.
The front MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam does not a fun ride, but seemed not to bring the iQ to life in my hands as it does other cars are Class B large. Scion lists turning radius of 25.8 meters, about five feet shorter than your average "car", but when I measured myself out of the front tires, I had 27 feet, 2 inches. Combined with the 78.7-inch wheelbase clown car, I found myself falling edges lot when backing out of driveway. I have not had a moment as difficult to handle since high school. Similarly, braking was strange. While the feel of the pedal and the closed linear seemed perfectly normal, when the suction-Pacific Race logical proof with the windscreen and tried to slow down 60 mph at the same time a piece of smooth floor, was 131.2 feet, 116.7 meters and 126.4 meters. Thus, both the test equipment must be crazy or have a car either. Or me. It could be one of the three.
EPA rates at 36 mpg city/37 the combined mpg mpg highway/37, which is good but not spectacular numbers you'd expect given all the size that you waive it. I received a filling of 3,011 gallons per mile 118.5 to 39.4 mpg highway driving most of the time. But you can get 40 mpg in all kinds of cars that have more space, cost the same or even less, have a real back seat and is more fun to drive. Scion officially called a 3.5 or a 3 +1 seater. It's a clever way of saying "Goodbye, legs" if you sit in the back seat. With a front driver size, the rear seat is only for groceries. So if you have a family of four with two young children, but will not be happy in the back. And 'notoriously erratic lane highway Los Angeles' was moved. A short wheelbase combined with what appears to be more rigid setting of the car to fight a long skinny bouncing all over the place.
This car is not as bad as the obvious competitor, the Smart Fortwo, which is the worst car on the market bar none, but the iQ is not as good as it could be. Located in a manual transmission and most iQ sins can be forgiven. For $ 16 000, is it number of alternatives that are fun to drive and much more convenient. Chevrolet Sonic with a turbo and a manual, and a car Hyundai Accent manual comes to mind. Scion says it is for young urbanites. Maybe the citizens will enjoy elegant? I hope so, because if IQ sticks around a few model years, maybe they will put a manual transmission in it. Or an electric power train, which comes next year, but for fleet sales.
Scion would like to resolve this car so it is fun to drive, and maybe even a little 'less. It seems that asking too much, but then put on the market.
